Are your fitness tights performing as hard as you? (...and details of our secret sale up to 50%)

Do you ever wonder if your fitness tights are performing as hard as you? We had so much fun last week at Sydney Fitness Show. I managed to take a sneak peek at the competition out there. When looking around, it made me really sad in one way and happy in another way. Sad that people of the southern hemisphere (especially so in this day and age) are not offered a big range high quality fitness and sports apparel that is decently priced and built to last. Amongst the blood, sweat and tears of cranking our big launch, I was also really happy in another way that, this solidified was THE main reason I'm so passionate about changing the quality, excitement and function of fitness and sports apparel, this is the reason why Royal Fit Apparel was born.

You see, I've been working tirelessly over the last 3 years to provide you with the highest quality, highest performing garments that will help you to perform with your maximum efforts over and over on the gym floor and give you the guts in the competition arena so that you only need to focus on winning (rather than worrying if your pants are squat proof). I am not willing to provide you with mediocre materials and this is why my idea has taken so long. I want to create YOUR brand, that you love to wear and trust to be the best, whilst making all my fellow fitness freaks out there stand apart from the crowd!

Since i've spent the last 3 years discovering the mechanics of superior fitness apparel materials, I believe you only will accept the quality of clothes in how you work (and I know you work hard). Therefore i'm pretty sure you will want to know what makes the very best fitness tights. In this article, i'd like to share with you what I believe should to be in your top requirements for what you need to be shopping for in a superior fitness tight (and all your other fitness garments for that matter)

When looking at tights I believe there are 5 key factors that you need to assess, as to whether your tights are going to last the distance (I mean even up-to a decade) and support your performance and therefore give you maximum return on investment.

1. No sweat patches and no-unwanted odours.

This is a no brainer, for most of us certainly do not want our clothes to smell or have sweat patches. Are your tights made from cotton, polyester nylon or even bamboo? Look out for cheap fabrics used for tights as these may not serve you so well in the short term and long term.... to put it either bluntly for smell nor sweat. Be aware that even so called reputable brands can sell you tights that are priced as expensive, but do not compete so well in the performance material department, therefore you are only paying to advertise their label. For example, cotton is fantastic until you sweat on it because it clings to moisture easily which weighs you down and creates sweat patches in unwanted areas. This can hinder your performance as the fabric will weigh you down. Mentally, also this serves as a distraction as you can feel the damp on your skin and in the back of your mind, you might be wondering if you have formed sweat patches as you look down.

Polyester is also a material that is frequently used. At the right ratio's, polyester is great at wicking moisture but blended too heavily can harbour bacteria which can create a bad smell on your clothes. So it's all about the ratios and blend of different materials, the quality and type. To save your embarrassment of sweat patches, make-sure that your fabric is made from light yet high grade polypropylene, spandex or even bamboo that allows the fabric to breathe as you sweat (moisture wicking) therefore does not leave nasty sweat patches and prevents bacteria to be built up that makes the clothes smell in the short and long run.

2. Power up your tights performance by choosing strong, secure stitching:

When you examine the type and density of stitching on your tights, it will help you to predict how long your tights will last. Stitches play a vital role not just in seam strength, flexibility and appearance, but also in the length of sewing cycles and cost of manufacturing. A higher SPI (Stitch Per Inch) indicates greater stitch density and often higher quality stitching. More short stitches typically mean there are stronger connections at the seams, typically this means that your fitness tights will last the distance and perform better with even the most arduous of training sessions. Four needle, 6 thread flat lock stitching in my opinion is the gold standard for fitness tights.

3. High performing compression material that supports your performance and recovery:

Compression material is typically made from a clever nylon and spandex blend in varying ratios which is woven into easy dry fabrics the wick sweat away from the body efficiently. Compression materials can enhance performance, as it helps fitness warriors to have to back up, training session to training session, as they aid muscular blood flow and recovery. The compressive nature of the material aid vascular drainage and blood circulation. In essence, this helps to transport the blood high in lactic out of your worked muscles more efficiently whilst shuttling new blood AKA nutrients in quicker. Therefore if you're muscles are tired after your previous training session, compression material in your tights help you to stay as strong as you want to be as your muscles recover better allowing better performance over time.

4. Has high function to your needs:

Do you have a pretty pair of tights that are good for showing on the street AND do they pose a function? Ok the tights LOOK amazing, but admittedly there's nothing more annoying than leaving your gym card somewhere in the gym and you cant get into your locker. Look for function with the aesthetic of your tights, like zipper pockets for example which are made with firm fabric holding your prized possessions such as phone, keys, cards and for us instructors mic bely packs close by. For instructors we can hold mic packs, keys, cash and your phone close by our sides whilst working up a sweat with our clients. We need not worry about the safety of our prized possessions when we have tights that understand our basic gym and #lifegoals. High waisted tights are great for allowing a bigger pocket size, plus hold the waist in whilst performing push ups and planks for example.

5. Is squat proof:

Be aware that cotton and cheap polyester blends easily wear away with all those kick ass HIIT sessions you've been doing. Cottons and some cheaper, thinner polyesters and have have high visibility which can means that when you squat you might be showing your lingerie. When you are working hard in the group fitness studio, the last thing on your mind needs to be weather people behind you can see your Calvin Kleins. Again, this can serve as a distraction when all you want to think about is perfecting your movements and smashing your fitness goals.
