The 10 Traits Of Highly Successful People Who Achieve Their Fitness Goals

Updated: Jan 7, 2022

Do you struggle to achieve your fitness goals, no matter how hard you try? Frustrated and confused as to why you see other people around you achieving their amazing fitness results, seemingly with ease, yet leaving you for dust? I don't know about you, but I'm a firm believer in the theory, that success leaves clues.

This article investigates the traits of the greats and why you might be getting left behind. If you've left these traits dormant, rather than cultivating these perfectly magical, yet natural success accelerators in your life, you may want to change this for the sake of achieving amazing stuff too!

Interestingly, throughout the 17 years or so of being heavily involved in the health and fitness industry, i've seen many clients being super successful and many others being like a hamster on the wheel.

Don't worry! If you're like the hamster, more than the superstar, you are probably like the rest of us, caught in the deception web of the greats. Rest assured, the people around you that are making getting results look easy, (and keeping the results) are most probably hiding all their hard-work in the background, leading you into the assumption that achieving amazing fitness results is easy when, the truth is, getting what you want, it's no where near easy! In reality it takes ALOT of work, sweat and tears (more tears than you thought ever possible!)

Significant, lifetime results takes far more hard and smart work than ever imaginable to the masses, leading most of us to quit at the first few hurdles, making comparisons between them and us, wondering why 'they' get results and we don't ? Why is this fitness thing so hard? This concept in itself, might be somewhere where you are going wrong.

Read on if the above rings true for you and apply these strategies as soon as possible so you can get beyond where you ever thought possible, in fitness and in your life. How you tackle life? How is that connected to how you tackle getting fit? I hear you say. Well I am a believer in how you do one thing, is how you do most things in life.

Introducing the amazing traits of the super successful:

1. They are relentless in the pursuit of winning the result; The ability to be relentless lives

within all of us, however, typically for the goal achievers of the world, will use relentlessness to power through their training sessions, so they achieve massive fitness success. Whilst for others, they may leave it dormant for years, not believing they have such a trait and therefore rarely achieve what they set out, since they allow set backs get in their way and usually easily give up as a consequence. Anyone who quits will never be successful. Cultivating this amazing 'relentless' trait we were born with, allows goal getters to keep moving through set backs, no matter how big these are, they stopping at literally nothing until they achieve their goals. This will enable the person who possesses their relentlessness, to supercede the non relentless person every single time.

2. They don't rely on ‘motivation’; The most successful people in the fitness game understand that motivation is like a yo-yo, therefore in order to be successful they don't even worry about 'motivation'. Moreover, their energy is directed towards dedicating themselves to achieving the result. Once they have the initial goal, they don't stop there, rather set forth towards the next result and so on and so forth. They know that there is no peak, they never settle and are dedicated, self obligated - if you like, towards making themselves the best they can be, in this lifetime.

3. They seek expert guidance; Although there are a-lot of people that think they know fitness these days or have an opinion on the matter there are certainly experts in health and fitness that have studied the subject intensly and lived and breathed it for years. People who achieve goals faster, are not big fans of taking a stab in the dark when it comes to taking fitness advice. Rather than relying on some random opinion on facebook, successful people take themselves straight to the source of the best health and fitness expert they can find and seek expert advice from them, since they are results focussed and understand that the right expert will help them to achieve better results, faster over the short AND long term. They are not afraid to invest in this skill because they know that the return of investment pays off in dividends.

4. They have vision. AKA Clearly defined goals and dreams plus a deadline for achieving these ambitions. Highly successful people know that setting goals, fast tracks' their fitness successes. Even if they do not achieve the goal itself, they are far more likely to get closer than not setting a goal at all because they have decided to make a commitment. Time and time again, whether big or small or medium goals it’s inevitable when you set something up, that you create a better vision for where you want to be, therefore heighten the chances of success. Moreover their goals are compelling enough for them to be able to push through the hard day’s, when usually they would want to quit their goal inspires them to drive hard and keep going.

5. They hang around people that help them level up. I guess by now you have heard of that you are the average of the 5 people you hang around the most? Being absolute key indicator of success, usually the people who achieve their best, do not have tonnes of so called 'friends', instead they chose a smaller 'tribe' of honest trustworthy hardworking and therefore other successful people. These important people will be their cheering squad when it‘a earned and also will not be tip toeing around them when they need to buck up their ideas and kick on strong.

6. They banish mediocrity from their lives. People who achieve their goals in fitness, are very likely to be high achievers in all other areas on their lives. This is because usually how people tackle one task, is how they go about all things in their lives. They simply have worked out that mediocrity leads to only one thing- mediocre results. Since it the concept of getting the BEST outcomes from their training, they only give 100% and do not accept mediocrity from their mind, their actions or circle of influence.

7. They realise they need to put out more than they get back: Successful people realise that they have to put in way more work than they might think initially. They have to work extremely smart AND hard to achieve their best results. They know that giving a 50% effort will typically yield a 25% result- so they must give 1000% to get a 100% back. The super successful understand that regardless of whether they give 0%, 50% or 100% effort, they still use the same amount of energy. Therefore the goal getter will always set their goals and targets higher than they ever could imagine in order to get to their desired response better and quicker.

8. They have a positive morning and bedtime routine that accelerate them to their dreams. The most successful sports people have been shown to set their goals for the day, every day, first thing upon waking, every morning before attending to any work or playing on their phones on insta and facebook. In the evenings you can guarantee that the most successful people that you know use a gratitude diary. Writing down what they are truly grateful for daily, enables them to channel positive energy from the day past, whilst moving forwards even more positively every day. Remember that gratitude builds self esteem, self confidence. A secret of the truly successful also comes in the form of a writing a dream diary and an attack list before bed. This sets the goal getter into a focus beyond belief, allowing them to hit full throttle to smash their goals, as soon as their feet hit the floor upon rising.

9. They are obligated to themselves more than others. The super successful put pressure that on themselves that exceeds any pressure that anyone else would be able to do. They work hard, and are able to see when they were slacking and pick that s##t up. If you want to be super successful in getting your results remember that nobody is going to care more about you, than you. You must take ownership on what you do how you tackle it, if you make mistakes along the way, you need to recognise they mistakes and own up to them, whilst moving on from them with the best solution.

10. High Achievers operate on the premise that there is absolutely zero ROI on complaining, whining, making excuses and making themselves a victim without owning the problem, moving forwards AND formulating an effective solution to the problem. This trait of the greats basically speaks for itself. Great achievers are rarely pessimistic, they rarely whinge bitch and moan, because they have noticed that it does very little in getting closer to the results they desire. They understand that the blame game does not work either, they know that positively reframing negative things (such as the glass is half full vs empty) makes them the controller of their destiny. They therefore own mistakes and take massive action towards success.
